What is The Princeton Hot Seat?

The Princeton Hot Seat is a new recurring photo blog to highlight the transient nature of the rowing community in the Princeton, New Jersey area.  It's open to anyone directly involved with the sport of rowing that comes to Princeton on rowing "business".  Could be rowers, coxswains, coaches, boatmen, officials, etc.

How does the Hot Seat Work?

Each subject gets four questions to answer, the first of which is simply, why are you here (in Princeton)?  Then the subject randomly draws the remaining three from a pool of pre-determined questions, of which half are rowing related, half are not...and can be pretty random.  They get one pass.

On the Hot Seat today is two-time world champion from the USA Women's Eight, Vicky Opitz

Princeton Hot Seat - Why are you in Princeton?

Vicky Opitz - I am here to train and hopefully earn a spot on the 2016 Olympic rowing team.

PHS - Do you have any pre-race routines, superstitions, or habits?

VO - I usually like to have some sort of baked good or chocolate beforehand, just because you never know how the racing is going to go and it's good to have something sweet to kick it off.  I also like to listen to some 80's rock.  Just put it on shuffle and see what happens!

PHS - What's your favorite post-workout meal?

VO - Definitely a four egg omelette, and I like to put in a lot of veggies to get the veggie kick during the day.  Spinach, sometimes brussel sprouts, peppers, onions, and cheese.  Lots of cheese!

PHS - What's your favorite type of cross training for rowing?

VO - I'd have to say running.  I didn't used to be a very good runner, but the training here has whipped me in to running shape and now it's something I enjoy.
